How do you raise money?
Well, you can actually do anything you like* - as long as you can find someone to sponsor you!
But finding a good idea - that will encourage your mates to dip their hands into their pocket is easier said than done.
If sitting in a bath of cold beans doesn’t appeal, here’s a handy top 10 list; generated by asking 10 friends for their all time top fundraising idea.
1. Run a marathon
“It hurts like hell, but the smile on my face at the end made the blisters so worthwhile.”
2. An auction
“Ask your friends, clear out your garage, badger local companies, email sports clubs; blag some great prizes. Invite everyone you know and auction everything off.”
3. Climb up a really big hill
“Or even 3 in a row. The 3 peaks challenge. I learnt more about my friends in 24 hours than the last 2 years. Not all of it I wanted to know mind…”
4. A coffee morning at work
“Everyone likes coffee. Everyone likes breaks. Ask your boss. Do it now.”
5. The Smarties tube
“Buy a tube of Smarties. Eat them. Then fill up the tube with loose change. There’s nothing stopping you buying lots of Smarties and giving them to your friends. Just remember to collect them later.”
6. Tash off
“Get everyone you know to buy a fake moustache (or use face paints if you fancy) and sponsor you to wear it at work all day.”
7. Get creative
“For all you artists out there, why not start you own line in cards - birthdays, Christmas, Mother’s Day - all great reasons to get creative. Sell them to your friends and family, or even online.”
8. Run a quiz
“Everyone loves a quiz. Half the money to the winner, half to charity. All good!”
9. Mud wrestling!
“Go to Glastonbury (or anywhere with lots of people for that matter) and get people to pay to see you wrestle in the mud.”
10. Organise a concert
“Charge everyone for tickets. See if you can get a cut of the bar takings too. And the best bit. Everyone has to put up with your singing.”
