How many people do you know who would like to throw a wet sponge at you?

Your mum? Your workmates? Your teacher? Your friends? Probably quite a few.

The more annoying you are, the more money you are likely to raise!

You can charge people per throw and you can also get sponsored too.

For example, you could suggest £1 a throw and 50p sponsorship per minute in the stocks.

All you need is to work out where the nearest set of stocks are. Or failing that get someone to tie you to a tree. Get a couple of buckets, 3/4 sponges and make sure you are near a hosepipe so the water doesn’t run out.

Then arrange a date – coordinating your soaking with a village fete works well. Think up a name – something like ‘Soak the Sucker’ or ’40 minutes of sponge pain’. And then take your punishment.

Fundraising tip: This idea also works well as a challenge. A local celebrity, the mayor, your sports coach or teacher will all have a big queue of people waiting to pay for a sponge.
